Kate Shepherd Communications (KSC) welcomes new client Hawthorne Community Center! Hawthorne serves the Near Westside. It has been an important part of the area for more than 90 years. The center provides services for toddlers to senior citizens.
Who is our new client?
If you haven’t visited Hawthorne, you should. The community center recently completed a $3.7 million renovation and expansion. The main building, Hawthorne Youth Center, is absolutely gorgeous and so full of activity! It houses two early education classrooms, offices, a computer lab, a large community room, a craft room, activity room, reading room, game room and a large gym. We toured the building with Executive Director Diane Arnold and were amazed at how well-organized and vibrant the center is. It has such a great energy!
Hawthorne is actually three buildings. Senior citizens enjoy space at the Senior Retreat located on the old Central State Hospital grounds. They can exercise, dine and participate in various activities there.
Finally, the Carnegie building houses the Hawthorne Center for Working Families. All adult programs happen there and include services to help individuals and families become financially stable. This building is also where ultra-fluffy Louie the cat hangs out! Louie is a bit of a celebrity and visitors often seek him out for pictures.
We’re looking forward to sharing more about our client Hawthorne in the coming months. Look for highlights about the amazing work they do in the community and the stories of the families Hawthorne serves.
