Restored raises funds to stop sex trafficking

Tickets are now available for an upcoming event to raise awareness and funds for Indianapolis nonprofit Restored. The Third Annual Stop the Traffick Fashion Show will focus attention on Restored’s mission: To put an end to domestic sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in Indiana.

Restored Makes a Difference

In 2016, Restored served 106 women throughout Indiana—including 55 juveniles. The average age of those Restored serves is 16. The 2017 Stop the Traffick Event will help secure funding to continue the organization’s work in 2018 and beyond.

“Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t realize the prevalence of this injustice,” said Restored’s Community Outreach Coordinator Laura Mason. “In the past three years that Restored has existed, we have served more than 200 individuals in Indiana.”

Stop the Traffick

The event will take place Friday, November 3 at the Basile Theatre at the Historic Athenaeum from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A “social hour” will kick off the evening before the program begins at 7:00. Cocktail attire is recommended.

Ticket prices include hors d’oeuvres, and complimentary desserts will be provided by Taking Sweet Time.

All beer for the event has been donated by two local, women-owned breweries: Black Acre and Scarlet Lane. Fellow nonprofit Girls Pint Out will also be in attendance to help with beer pouring.

“A fashion show is a great way to have fun while also talking about a really difficult topic,” said Restored’s Chief Operating Officer Dave Massey.

“The spoken word segment of the program is new to our fundraiser this year, but we see this as a significant opportunity to express the reality of this injustice in a way that most of our clients can relate to. Art is a therapeutic activity that many girls find comfort in.”

Former Indianapolis Colts punter Hunter Smith is scheduled to be the evening’s emcee. Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard is also expected to be in attendance.

Single tickets are available online for $100. For $650, supporters may reserve an eight-person table. Corporate sponsorships are still available and range from $500 to $5,000.
